Common Lies And Truth To Replace Them

Lie: God does not love me.

Truth: We love because he first loved us. I John 4:19 NIV I am unconditionally loved by God and worthy to receive love.

Lie: I am not smart enough

Truth: But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Co 2:16 NIV But if any of you lack wisdom, you should pray to God, who will give it to you; because God gives generously and graciously to all. James 1:5 GNT

Lie: I’m not pretty

Truth: So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Gen 1:27 NLT For we are God’s masterpiece. Ephesians 2:10 NLT

Lie: I don’t have what it takes

Truth: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:14 NKJV

Lie: I don’t have the connections or people in my life for my dream to come true

Truth: A person’s gift opens doors for him and brings him before the great. Prov 18:16 CSB

Lie: I’m losing my mind

Truth: You will guard me and keep me in constant peace as my mind is stayed on You, because I commit myself to You, lean on You, and hope confidently in You.  You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26:3 NLT And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:7 NIV

Lie: Everyone is out to get me

Truth: You who sit down in the High God’s presence, spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow, Say this: “God, you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe!” That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you— under them you’re perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm. Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day, Not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon. Lie: My family has always dealt with (addictions, divorce, anger, fear, health issues, etc), I guess it’s just in the cards for me too.

Truth: So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36 NIV

Lie: My past is always going to haunt me. 

Truth: Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new. 2 Cor 5:17 CEV

Lie: My life is not going anywhere. I don’t know what’s the point. 

Truth: And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. Phil 1:6 NLT For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jer 29:11 NIV
