4 DIY Face Masks

Hi guys! This week i’m going to be sharing 4 DIY face masks!


Now if you’re like me, you see all of these expensive masks from Lush or other beauty stores. Of course they sound like they will work wonders for your skin, but you don’t know much of what’s in the mask. By making your own, you are guaranteed to  know what is going on your skin.


Avocado Face Mask: moisturizing

Ingredients –

½ of an avocado

½ of a very ripe banana

1 tbsp of any oil (I used olive oil)

  • Leave on for 10-20 min


Coffee Mud Face Mask: exfoliates, tightens pores, accelerates scar healing, and reduces inflammation.

Ingredients –

2 tsp cosmetic clay (White cosmetic clay – dry skin. Bentonite clay – normal to oily skin. French green clay – oily skin.)

1 tsp of ground coffee

1 – 1 ½ tsp of apple cider vinegar

2-3 drops of tea tree oil (optional)

  • Leave on for 5-15 min


Turmeric Lemon Face Mask: heal acne, help skin retain moisture, cleans pores, and fights skin infections.

Ingredients –

3 tbsp of rolled oats

1 tbsp of honey

½ tsp of turmeric

1 squeeze of lemon juice

  • Leave on for 15-20 min (may have to rinse face multiple times to get rid of yellow tint)     


Peeling Mask: removes blackheads, tightens pores, and clears up skin.  

Ingredients –

½ tbsp of apple cider vinegar

1 pack of unflavored gelatin (or non toxic elmers glue)   

3-5 drops of eucalyptus essential oil

*put in microwave for 10-15 seconds if using unflavored gelatin*

  • Leave on for 5-10 min then peel/rinse off

Lake Life

Lake House tips

Seven summers ago, we made the decision to purchase a lake home. This was scary and exciting and super intimidating for a couple in our early 30’s with two small children. But we had just survived a scary year, after Hubs was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm the day after Christmas. He survived and recovered. This is what we call our “life changing moment.” We decided that life was too short to waste, so owning a lake home seemed like the perfect way to slow life down and enjoy more time with family and friends. We worked hard at our full time jobs but we wanted to play with our kids too. The fact that it was walking distance from family members was even better.

When we first purchased the home, I was overwhelmed by the thought of how  I would  possibly  keep two houses cleaned and organized. But I soon realized that I didn’t want my children to grow up and tell everyone that we had a clean house, I wanted them to remember all of the amazing memories that we had created along the way. We shopped our own house and kitchen to find extra bedding, kitchen utensils, dishes, games and toys that we could take to the lake. This not only helped us stay in our budget but help us cut down on clutter. I shopped the clearance racks at Target for new towels, dish sets, any household items that we were in need of. Amazing what you can find in those clearance aisles! Friends and family gifted us items that they knew we could use as well.

This weekend I bought a succulent and a cactus. Having living plants in my room has been my current obsession, especially cacti. You only need to water them a few times a week, and they require no sun.

Having living plants in your work space not only serves as decoration, but they can improve your brain.  A study at The Royal College of Agriculture in Circencester, England, found that students demonstrate 70 percent greater attentiveness when they’re taught in rooms containing plants. In the same study, attendance was also higher for lectures given in classrooms with plants.


So, I just thought I’d share my obsession for this week, hopefully you all learned something from this. Talk to you next week!

Spinach Dip

It is Easter tomorrow! With warmer temps predicted, we can finally wear our cute Easter dresses this year…

If you are looking for a quick and easy appetizer for your Easter get together, this Spinach Dip is a crowd pleaser. It takes just a few minutes to put together and when served with fresh veggies as dippers, makes a healthy appetizer!


Spinach Dip

A healthy, quick appetizer perfect for any get together.

Course Appetizer
Prep Time 10 minutes


  • 1 package (10 oz) Frozen Chopped Spinach cook in microwave for 7 min, rinse and squeeze dry
  • 1 container (16 oz) Sour Cream
  • 1 cup Mayo
  • 1 package Knorr Vegetable recipe mix


  1. Mix all ingredients together and chill for 2 hours. Serve in a round bread bowl with your choice of fresh veggies for dippers. Pretzel crisps are also a favorite!

Printable Grocery List

Meal Planning…

This can make your week go so much more smoothly, but it takes some time and energy to get meal ideas, buy the necessary groceries, plan the menu and then actually make the meals. I have always been a “list person” and having a pre-made grocery list has been super helpful to me so that I can jot down things that we need as I think of them. I am also a little old school and love my paper planner, so this grocery list is always tucked in my planner for easy access. I keep three of these lists going each week; one for Target, one for the grocery store and one for Sam’s/Costco.

We have a blog!

Hello friends!

We have a blog. Something I have been thinking about and creating in my mind for several years now… I didn’t really know where to start or what to say but this last year has been a year of learning and growing for our family, full of highs and lows, and I have decided that now seems to be the perfect time to start a blog. Dream Big. Think outside the box. We only get one  life. These are all mottos that I live by and they all seem to apply to me today. Surviving a less than wonderful year to now celebrating my 42nd birthday.
